A special day in the heart of the Jewish Quarter

An important event, a cool festival awaits its visitors on 16 September 2017 in the most frequented and multicultural area of the historical Jewish Quarter (Erzsébetváros, 7th District of Budapest) with street music, children’s programs, community cooking and many more. Showing how different and liveable would be to turn Kazinczy Street into a permanent pedestrian area, the organisers have created a tradition with this early autumn festival over the years.

Supporters of the project would like to end parking in Kazinczy Street entirely except for some loading space and disabled parking lot. They also wish to stop the crossing traffic and implement a system with number plate recognition and retractable bollards for people who live in the residential buildings. More benches, flowers, trees could also make people much happier in this absolutely characteristic street of the Jewish Quarter with its Orthodox Synagogue and the mikveh, the kosher restaurants such as Hanna, Carmel or the kosher Tel Aviv Cafè together with the iconic Szimpla Kert, Kőleves Restaurant, Macesz Bistro and some other emblematic ruin bars, eateries and shops. I would be happy to guide my guests during my Jewish Walking tours in a greener Kazinczy Street.
